Hot Times in Hotlanta!

Atlanta Falcons

"Do you feel lucky, punk? Well, do you?"

Yes, that's paraphrasing from the movie "Dirty Harry" with Clint Eastwood back in 1971.

Feels kind of quaint, calling someone a punk back then. Compare that to today, when calling someone a punk can get you shot.

Now, imagine your NFL teammate calling you a punk.

That's what an anonymous Atlanta Falcon called his offensive linemen, according to NFL Media.

At issue was the late hit on Falcon quarterback Matt Ryan - by a rookie no less, Kenny Vaccaro - in the Falcons' game against the Saints.

There is a strict protocol to be followed in these situations. Some of the offensive linemen are required to charge the late-hit offender, cursing and threatening him with their teeth bared, while all the time bellowing like Vikings and stomping their feet like a herd of bison in winter and just generally making a big show of it, while never actually touching him.

It helps if a few of your teammates struggle to hold back your volcanic wrath.

Other offensive linemen are supposed to gather around their stricken quarterback and help him up tenderly from the ground, like he's a 70-year-old heart patient and may die at any moment. Here, they are also required to look abashed for allowing such a thing to happen, something offensive linemen learn early.

Apparently, the Atlanta offensive line did not follow proper protocol and got called "punks" for it.

Let's see if they can redeem themselves this week against Miami. That's just one of some sweet NFL matchups this week. Here is my rundown and analyses of the weekend's best bets and some other notable contests.
